The intensity of cyclone ‘TITLI’ covering States like Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha is likely to get intensified in the days to come. The weather bulletin released by MET Observatory Center Ranchi on Wednesday suggested heavy (64.5 mm to 115.5 mm) to very heavy rainfall (70 mm to 120 mm) warning for Jharkhand.
According to the weather bulletin, districts like East Singhbhum, Saraikela-Kharsawan, West Singhbhum, Dhanbad, Jamtara, Dumka, Bokaro, Pakur, Deogarh, Godda and Khunti including the North-Eastern (NE) parts of the State will receive heavy to very heavy downpour in the wake of this cyclonic disturbance.
“On October 11 and October 12, heavy rainfall will lash Southern and NE parts of the State, accompanied with gusty winds blowing with a speed of 12 to 16 Kmph. Besides, rest other districts of Jharkhand like Ranchi, Gumla, Hazaribagh including a few other districts will receive light to moderate rainfall. The weather condition is likely to improve after October 14 as the intense system formed at Bay of Bengal will shift towards the North-West India,” said Senior Scientist, MET Observatory Centre Ranchi, R S Sharma.
“The system over West Central Bay of Bengal which remained stationary around 560 Km South-East of Gopalpur in Odisha and 510 Km South-East of Kalingapatnam in Andhra Pradesh has started shifting with immense intensity. Thereafter, it is very likely to re-curve northeast wards and will move towards Gangetic West Bengal across Odisha and will weaken gradually,” Sharma further added.
Notably, the State has been deprived of normal rainfall for a month now, with weather conditions mainly remaining dry and the mercury level rising especially during the daytime. According to meteorological parameter, the South-West (SW) monsoon departed from the State in the last week of September, hence, the present system is only governed by the impact of cyclone ‘Titli’.
