Monday, 12 November 2018 | PNS | Dehradun

A special sight and sound show, ‘Jang-e-Saragarhi’ dedicated to 21 valiant soldiers of 36th Battalion of Sikh Regiment was organised at Birpur Cantonment here on Sunday.

‘Jang-e-Saragarhi’ is a commemoration to the valour and sacrifice of 21 Sikh soldiers who fought against an army of 10,000 Pathans at the relay post of Saragarhi during 1897.

All of them were awarded ‘Indian Order of Merit’ posthumously, the highest gallantry award at that time.

The saga of unparalleled bravery is recorded in the list of “eight stories of collective bravery in the history of mankind” assembled by UNESCO.

The sight and sound show was attended by the GOC, 14 RAPID(S) and chairperson, GK FWO, a number of veterans & serving personnel along with their families and students of APS Birpur, SGRR (PG) College, APS Clement Town, TVAPPS and Doon School.

At the end of the memorable programme GOC, 14 RAPID(S) felicitated Harbaksh Singh Latta and other participants for a spectacular display.
