Thursday, 13 September 2018 | Divya Modi | Ranchi

The Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) in association with Mott MacDonald (MM) has started Process Monitoring of the State Rural Livelihood Mission (SRLM) in Jharkhand.

In the third quarter, June to September 2018, it covered four districts Latehar, Palamu, West Singhbhum and Lohardaga as well as 64 self help groups, 16 village organizations and 4 CLF related to livelihood and financial inclusion.

As per process monitoring, areas which need attention are Institution Building, Financial Management, Financial Inclusion, Livelihood and Human resource. Capacity Building is also a critical need for Community Based Organisations (CBO) and hand holding support to specific cadre.

Process monitoring team leader, Sanjit Pattnaik said, “Poor women are taking initiative for pursuing various livelihood activities such as rearing of goats, pigs, sheep, cow, poultry, bamboo products, agriculture and medium small micro entrepreneurship. There is a need for adequate guidance and handholding support on business promotion for strengthening the economic condition of rural women.”

JSPLS is an autonomous body under the Rural Development Department of Jharkhand government working as a nodal agency for effective implementation of livelihood promotion in the state. It is also the nodal agency for implementation of National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) project started in the financial year 2012-13.
