Kathak dancer gets Jayadev Yuva Puraskar

USA-based famous Kathak dancer Anindita Anaam was conferred with the prestigious Shri Jayadev Rashtriya Yuva Puraskar for her immense contribution to the field of art.

Anindita received the award on the concluding day of a four-day ‘Jayadev International Dance Festival’ organised at the Bhanja Kala Mndap here jointly by the State Cultural Department and the National Culture Mission on Monday.

She is one of the chosen few internationally-acclaimed artist who was awarded with this coveted award.

She started the concert with Poet Jayadev’s famous rendition from Geeta Govinda, ‘lalita lavanga’ where she showcased her immense talent of facial expressions or Abhinaya. 

She beautifully enacted the romantic verse with delicate gesture and flawless expressions between various moods.

The second part of her recital begun with tradition Teental, which is a 16- beat rhythmic taal pattern set in Raag Charukeshi.

She mesmerised the audience with her pure footwork showing different aspects of chaal, palta and ladis and complex tihais. In Vimabitlaya, she touched upon the famous Ganesh Paran of Jaipur Gharana and moved on to fast uthans, aamads and parmelus.

In Drut laya, she portrayed Gat Nikas and Krishna Kavitta focusing on the life of lord Krishna and ended with 24 chakkars.
