Khadi and Saras mela to boost rural industry: Seth

With a view to give new dimension to rural industries of the State, the Jharkhand Khadi Board will organise Khadi and Saras Mela from December 20 to January 6 at Morabadi ground in Ranchi.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Jharkhand Khadi Board Chairman Sanjay Seth, on Tuesday said that almost all the preparation for the fair has been completed. Chief Minister Raghubar Das will inaugurate the fair on December20 and other dignitaries will join the programme including Union Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Giriraj Singh, Jharkhand Minister of City and Housing development, CP Singh and Minister of Rural Development, Nilkanth Singh Munda.

Seth further said, “The participants from almost all states are installing their shops. As many as 1100 stalls will be erected at the venue.

As India is celebrating 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi so that board have decided the venue will be named Bapunagar.

The name of main auditorium will be Birsa Munda Auditorium.” Speaking about the fair he said, “As many as 12 hangers will be erected at Bapunagar. The name of hanger has been kept on the basis of things related to Gandhi Ji as Sabarmati, Daandi, Waardha, Porbandar, Champaran, Yarvada, Swadeshi, Swarajya, Ahimsa, Satyagraha, Satya.”

The Chairman said, “The National Khadi and Saras festival has been put under six lakh square feet. The fair will start daily at 10am and continue till 9 pm.

The entry ticket will cost Rs. 10 per ticket and the entry of school students will be free and. With a view to expect huge crowd there will be two gates of entry and at each gates there will be ticket counter.”

Seth further said, “Artisan and entrepreneur from various states, NGOs, Self Help Groups, various Khadi Bords will exhibit their products.

Various stall be erected by different governments departments to popularize their schemes.”

While informing about facilities provided for senior citizens he said, “There will be e-rickshaw for the elderly people to visit one place to other place.

 The fair will be fully cashless as HDFC bank will install a POS machine for the payment of buying goods. Gift of Rs. ten thousand will be distributed per day at the fair.”

Speaking on the occasion Mayor Ranchi Municipal Corporation Asha Lakra said, the venue will look completely clean. We will put dustbins according to requirements, she added.

The Arts and Culture Department will organise various cultural program on each day of the fair.

Arts and Culture Department Director, Ashok Singh said there will be a hanger of the department and the department will organise various cultural program including visual and performing art. Renowned artists from six states including Bihar, Assam, Goa, Chhatisgarh,

Jammu and Kashmir and Orissa are invited to exhibit their performance at the venue during the fair.”

Various kinds of stall will be erected at the venue including Khadi organisations, PMEGP, DCH Cardholder, Rural Development Department, NABARD, Cottage and Small scale industry Board, Soil art Board, Jharkraft, Election Commission, Banks, Mudra Yojna unit, Stand Up Yojna, Food Stalls, Unique Identification Authority of India etc.
