Bar Assn seeks return of bike unconditionally
Umarkote Bar Association member Md Husain has alleged that a team of the Chandhandi police misbehaved him using slang language during a vehicle checking on Friday evening.
Husain was returning home after Friday prayer in his bike when he was stopped by a team of police and MV officials on Chandahandi-Jharigam Main road. As asked by them, Hussain produced all documents. However, the team took his bike on the plea that he was not wearing a helmet then.
“When I protested saying MV checking after sunset is illegal, they verbally abused me and booked me in a false case,” alleged Husain.
Basing on his complaint, the Umarkote Bar Association called a meeting here on Saturday and condemned the act of police. The association threatened to take bold steps if the cops don’t not withdraw false case and release his bike unconditionally.
“Lawyers are now protesting attack on a lawyer of the Orissa High Court. This incident would add fuel to the fire,” said association president Prasant Kumar Sahu.
