Locals seen enjoying diwali shopping

This festive season, people are enjoying diwali shopping at different spots of the city. Bhopalites are busy buying decorative items, dress materials and eatables. To give more opportunity to the shopaholics, an exhibition cum sale is being organized at Gauhar Mahal from Thursday.

Organized by Sathiya Welfare Society, the historical shopping hub of the city is adorned with sparkling and fizzy shades of around 27 districts of the State. The exhibition cum sale display special items for this festival and provide opportunity to the people to buy traditional and unique items for their homes.

Artisans from Indore, Chhatarpur, Betul, Jhabua, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh have arrived at the fair. There is a unique collection of diwali lanterns, diyas, diyas made of terracotta, rangoli colours and manual books with various rangoli patterns. Besides, the fair sports a collection of silver puja thalis embedded with meenakari work. Around 33 stalls have been put up at the fair. Chanderi and Maheshwari work on half silk cotton suits added more zest at the fair. Lots of designer sarees and suits with applied work of Jamdani silk and patch work are also displayed. Sarees in bagh print and heavy zardozi work are also available there at affordable prices.

Ornaments are best attraction for women. A horde of ladies could be noticed at the ornament stalls. These stalls included imitation jewellery with a touch of Gujarat and Rajasthani jewellery embedded with kundan karigari with the finishing of pretty traditional look. The other stalls are displaying the Hyderabadi ornaments including guluband with anardana giving them a traditional touch of Hyderabad as well.
