A low pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal around September 18, which would trigger rainfall across the State, the Regional Office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted on Saturday.
“A low pressure area is likely to form over west-central and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal around September 18. Strengthening of winds prior to this development may happen over Andaman Sea, east-central and south Bay of Bengal from September 16,” the IMD said.
In view of the likely adverse sea conditions, fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas on September 16 to 18, the weather office said.
Meanwhile, the IMD has forecasted that rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over north Odisha and at a few places over south Odisha. It has also warned of possible heavy rainfall at one or two places over south Odisha on September 17 and over coastal Odisha on September 18.
