Ludhiana Fire Tragedy: Job letters after 1 year

About a year after, Punjab Government on Tuesday handed over the job appointment letters to five kin of the deceased fire brigade employees killed in the chemical blast after fire in a private factory at Ludhiana.

Handing over the appointment letters, the state Local Government Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu said that the process to give jobs to the kin of rest of the four deceased employees is on and the appointment letters would be given soon.

Those given appointment letters included Sahil Gill son of Sub-Fire Officer Samaoun Gill, Tushar Sharma son of Sub Fire Officer Rajinder Kumar Sharma, Parminder Singh son of Sub Fire Officer Raj Kumar, Bhupinder Singh son of leading fireman Puran Singh, and Rekha Rani wife of fireman Rajan.

“During the fire tragedy that took place during previous year at Ludhiana, the brave staff of the fire brigade didn’t care for their lives and performed their duty with extreme dedication and nine officers or employees were martyred in the tragedy. In spite of the limited resources services rendered by the fire personnel were exceptional,” said Sidhu.

He said that the kin of the martyred employees were given the financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh, and all their dues have also been given promptly. The victim families were also given the family pension on the priority basis.

Sidhu added that the as per the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s directives, works are going on war footing to ensure the rehabilitation of the victims of the recent rail tragedy at Amritsar. “Whereas on one hand, the compensation amount has been disbursed to the victims, the jobs would also be given soon enough to the victim families,” he added.

Sidhu further said that not only this, the seven victim families, who are not eligible for any job, would be given Rs 8,000 per month for the entire life from his own pocket.
