In a significant development, prominent private hospitals like Max hospital, Synergy, CMI, Mahant Indiresh hospital and Kailash hospital have decided to keep beds in reserve for referred patients of Ayushman Bharat Yojna ( ABY).
This decision was taken in a meeting of representatives of these hospitals with medical health and family welfare secretary, Nitesh Jha at health directorate on Friday.
On the occasion, the secretary constituted a five member committee to dispose of the pending cases of payment of these hospitals panelled under U- health card scheme and Mukhamantri Swasthya Bima Yojana ( MSBY) within one month.
The representatives of the private hospitals assured that referred patients from the government hospitals under ABY would face no problem.
Speaking on the occasion, Nitesh Jha said that due to less availability of beds in government hospitals many pregnant women face problem in delivery cases.
Giving example of load of government hospitals, he said that in last seven months 3437 deliveries have taken place in female wing of GDMC hospital alone out of which 1309 cases were caesarean deliveries.
Similarly, he said that in 1014 deliveries were conducted in the SPS Hospital Rishikesh though it has a capacity of only 20 beds. In Prem Nagar hospital with only 10 beds 618 deliveries were successfully done.
The secretary said that in such a situation it is imperative that more and more private hospitals come under purview of ABY , the universal health insurance scheme, so that patients get benefit of the scheme. It would also reduce load on the government health centres, he said.
The meeting was attended by medical health director Dr Anita Upreti, additional director Dr Saroj Naithani, secretary of Indian Medical Association ( IMA) Dr D D Chaudhury, CMI director Dr R K Jain and representatives of private hospitals.
