Maoists ask villagers to join group in Latehar

Tuesday, 25 September 2018 | PNS | DALTONGANJ

Depleting number of cadres in CPI Maoists’ outfits like PLGA (Peoples’ Liberation Guerrilla Army) and KKC (Kissan Krantikari Committee) has forced the outfit to do wall writings and bringing posters for recruitment.

Sources said Maoists have done wall writings and posters pasting in Latehar district’s Kumandi, Bendi, Ledhpa etc villages urging youth to join PLGA.

The household owners on whose walls either writings or pasting of posters have been done have left the stuff as it is since if anyone dares to obliterate it or wash it out the Maoists come threatening the household members.

SP Latehar Parshant Anand said Maoists have done wall writings and posters pasting all for youth to join their bandwagons but now the youth of this district are alert and will not come in their trap.

SP said the youth know now the real faces of the Maoists whose sons and daughters study in elite schools like the daughter of the surrendered Special Area Committee member of CPI Maoist Birsai who studies in as prestigious a school as Don Bosco in Macluskeiganj.

“Our village children study in government schools where they get midday meals too but here Maoists’ kids study in posh schools. Our youth here are not oblivious of this,” added Anand.

The SP referred to a huge vacancy more than 54,000 in various forces of the country like ITBP, CISF, CRPF, SSB, Assam Rifles, NIA etc for which Staff Selection Commission invited online applications till September 17 wherein our police and CRPF extended a big hand in helping the tribal and non tribal youth fit for applying online for the job of constabulary in any of these security apparatus and our men sent their online applications on our lap tops all free and this might have driven Maoists to try their luck too for any youth to join them.

Anand said Maoists are holding Establishment Week from September 22 to 28 and in such week that they hold they try these tricks like this kind of recruitment.

He said there is no reason that youth of this district will ever look upto them as now government has launched skill development courses where these youths have a secured future. “What is there for them in the Maoists’ outfits except waste of life and death?” quipped the SP.

About the counter offensive measures SP said police are up to this and where ever such posters are found pasted it is torn away. Wall writings do not matter anything now to villagers since they are so used to it since decades.

Sources said villagers on whose walls these writings have been done by the Maoists asking youth to join PLGA are waiting for the coming Diwali and Chhath festival when their walls will get a fresh coat of washing. Mud walls are washed with syrupy cow dung while pucca walls are white washed or saffron washed in Diwali.

Sources said Maoists have done a similar recruitment campaign in Saranda and Giridh.
