Piyush Sharda, son of Rakesh Sharda, of Mhow, is now the only Indian member of NASA team consisting of 16 scientists who are working on the project N 132 D. Besides Piyush, all the other scientists are from America, Germany and Japan.
Presently Piyush is pursuing PhD from Australian University from the department of astronomy and astrophysics. Piyush is an ex-student of BITS Pilani and has done B Tech and MSc physics from BITS Pilani.
Piyush, also a fellow of royal astronomical society told ‘The Pioneer’, “The star N 132 D which they will study is 20 times bigger than our sun. After the explosion in this the debris of this star is spreading in the universe with the speed of 900 kilometer per second presently.”
He further informed that the temperature of this debris is 1 million degree and it is emitting very dangerous radiations. The distance of this N 132 D star is one lakh sixty thousand light years from earth. The effect of the explosion in N 132 D star on earth will also be studied.
This Star was discovered in the year 1966. Since then a study is going on this star but our research project on this star will be quite vast in compare to other research. After the explosion how much amount of gold, iron silver sulphur zinc etc metals are produced and where it is storing on earth is also the part of our study. Our research will help to solve many queries related to plasma physics and also the formation of stars. The maximum age of this type of stars is 50 lakh years.
Our project is the biggest project of Chandra space mission of NASA in the year 2019. NASA every year spends around 440 crores rupees on this space mission.
The name of the Chandra space mission is kept on the name of Indian American scientist and noble price winner scientist Subramaniam Chandrasekhar. Piyush Sharda grandfather Babulal Sharda was also a professor of SGSITS engineering college Indore and his father Rakesh Sharda is professor in veterinary college Mhow.
