Miffed PPS members may skip Police Week

Wednesday, 19 December 2018 | PNS | Lucknow

Members of Provincial Police Services (PPS) Association are up in arms against seniors and the government and are planning to distance themselves from the coming Police Week functions. The PPS officers are upset as they feel that not only their demands not being addressed, but senior officers avoid to give them audience and listen to their grievances.

Recently, PPS Association chief Ajay Mishra, who could not make it to the IPS cadre due to unnecessary delay in promotion, had resigned from the post, citing personal reasons.

Sources said that office-bearers and members of PPS Association chalked out an agenda to raise their voices in the coming Police Week. Members said that during the programme of the Association during the last Police Week, the state government and the DGP promised them of addressing their problems which were put up before them. However, nothing was done in this regard and hence it would be prudent to stay away from such programmes. The officers pointed out that all others, except for PPS cadre members, were getting timely promotion but their demands were ignored over the years. They claimed that 2006 batch constables had been promoted as head constable, 2005 batch sub-inspectors had become inspectors, 2005 IPS officers had become DIGs, 2005 batch PCS officers had been promoted as ADMs but 2001 batch PPS officers were still working as Deputy SP, a post on which they had joined the service. The Association has hence decided to boycott the coming Police Week to highlight the step-motherly treatment being meted out to them.
