PHaryana Finance Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu on Thursday said that the State Government would implement permanent solution to deal with the problem of waterlogging in agricultural fields.

“In this direction, review meeting regarding measures to control floods will be held in the month of December this year,” the Finance Minister said during a function organised at village Garhi at district Hisar.

He said, “Earlier, the review meeting in this regard was being held in the month of June every year. The meeting has been preponed to take timely effective measures to control floods and tackle the situation of waterlogging.”

Capt. Abhimanyu said that huge damage had been caused to crops in different areas of the state due to waterlogging caused by recent untimely trains. Therefore, the State Government would frame a policy for permanent redressal of waterlogging so that such conditions may not cause any damage in future, he said.

The flood control review meeting would now be held six months earlier to ensure all arrangements and avoid getting the agricultural lands waterlogged, the Minister said.

Capt. Abhimanyu further said that those areas where agricultural land is stall waterlogged, the drainage of water would be carried out within 72 hours.

He also directed the Executive Engineer and other officers of the Irrigation Department to immediately take action.
