Mishra to get Kanhei Katha Puraskar

Dr Hiranmayee Mishra will be honoured with Kanhei Katha Puraskar 2018 for her outstanding contribution to Odia fiction and other literary activities.

The award is given to an Odia fiction writer every year instituted by Kanheilal Das Smruti Sansad in memory of writer Kanheilal Das, a trendsetter of Odia fiction in the 70s, who died in young age.

The award will be presented on June 27, birth date of the writer, at Baleswar on the occasion of the 71st Kanheilal Das Jayanti Samaraha.

Dr Mishra, an Utkal University alumnus, has authored several original Odia books and Eglish as well. She is a teacher in Political Science at UN College, Adaspur of Cuttack district. She also writes novel, poetry and essay on various woman issues. Dr Mishra is recipient of Katha Navaprativa Award, Bharatiya Bhasa Parisad Youth Award, Bhubaneswar Pustak Mela Fiction Award, Kadambini Best Fiction Award, Timepass Booker Puraskar, Bhubaneswar Behera State Fiction Award and many more.

The writer has published 12 books which include Prathama, Gotiya Barsaratira Kahani, Kinnarira Kabya, Basnayita Rati, Nila Rangara Nisha, Bibhorbela (poetry), Kete Dure Mora Priya Desha ( Travelogue), Megha Pakhira Gita (Novel) and a book in English “Negotiating Privately for an Effective Role in Public Space : A Case Study of Women in Panchayats of Orissa”.
