The body of a woman, who along with five others had gone missing after being swept away in flash floods in the Adangi river in Ganjam district two days ago, was recovered on Sunday.

Rescue team officials said the body was recovered from a bush near the river almost two days of search.

Notably, six persons including four of a family went missing after their house got swept away in flood waters following heavy rain triggered by Very Severe Cyclonic Storm ‘Titli’ in Bhutapankal village under Gajalbadi panchayat of the district.

Six persons including four of a family and two others had taken shelter on the roof of the house when the tragedy occurred.

“Due to heavy rainfall it was nearly impossible for police officials and other administrative personnel to enter the village by crossing the flooded river during the day of the incident. Presently, a JCB engaged in NHAI works has been pressed in service to carry out search operations,” said an official.

Earlier, body of a youth, who went missing in the tragic mishap, was recovered on October 12.
