The first batch of production of various products from NMDC Ltd’s upcoming 3 MTPA Nagarnar Steel Plant in Bastar may commence soon as the company as already floated tender for supply, transportation, loading, unloading of 97,803 MT Limestone for Sinter Plant.
NMDC has already placed order for procurement of the first consignment of coking coal, officials informed.
The company will put all its efforts to roll out the first HR coils from its upcoming 3 MTPA Nagarnar Steel Plant in Bastar by March 2019, officials informed.
The progress of construction activities of steel plant in the year 2017-18 is noticeable in various fronts, they informed.
At present, progress of civil work, structural and equipment erection are at an advanced stage and progressing in full swing.
The steel plant project is getting ready for its commissioning of various units progressively, for which operational power supply system is already energized during first week of March 2018, they informed.
In order to facilitate the commissioning activities of steel plant, procurement action for initial requirement of various raw materials, spares, consumables, etc., are also under process.
The company had also started the 220KV GIS (Gas Insulated Switch) Main Receiving Sub-station, followed by Power supply to the Sinter Plant. Subsequently, as per schedule, power will be stepped down to 33KV and conducted to the 11 sub-stations that will distribute power to different units of the steel plant by the Plant Power Distribution System (PPDS) through overhead cable gallery system.
BHEL-Industrial Systems Group, Bangalore has engineered, supplied, erected and is commissioning the 11 sub-stations for NISP’s PPDS Package at a cost of Rs 359 crores.
The Power sub-station packages that will be activated subsequently are the Raw Material Handling Plant, Coke Oven, Blast Furnace, Steel Melting Shop, Hot Strip Mill, Lime & Dolomite Calcination Plant and Railway Yard.
NMDC Ltd will be seeking expert consultancy for evolving a branding strategy for products to be manufactured by upcoming 3 MTPA steel plant at Nagarnar in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, officials informed. Notably, the charging of the Coal Handling System of Nagarnar Steel Plant had already been tested successfully which will handle close to 2.5 million tonnes of coking coal annually to feed its two Coke Ovens.
NMDC already is in the process of implementing an ambitious project of laying Slurry Pipeline from Bailadila to Jagdalpur and further upto Visakhapatnam, officials informed.
The capacity of the pipeline is 15 MTPA and this will be associated with facilities like Beneficiation Plant at Kirandul and Bacheli, Pellet Plant at Nagarnar and Vizag.
The Slurry Pipeline between Bacheli to Nagarnar is being executed by NMDC and from Nagarnar to Vizag is envisaged to be executed in SPV mode. The works for Bailadila to Jagdalpur segment (140 Km) has been taken up. This project is challenging in terms of obtaining various clearances and permissions from statutory bodies and complexity of the route, officials informed.
The company is executing the project in two phases. The first phase is being executed from Bacheli to Nagarnar in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh at an estimated outlay of Rs 4,000 crore; and the second phase will be executed from Nagarnar to Vizag in Andhra Pradesh at an outlay of Rs 6,000 crore, officials informed.
Notably, to transport pellet feed concentrate from Bailadila to Vizag via Jagdalpur, the company will have the pipeline laid along the highways with a provision of partial off-take to feed its proposed 3 MTPA Steel plant coming up at Nagarnar.
