New Secretariat building to come up at Sector 9

Chandigarh Administration will soon shift to a new building with the Ground-Breaking ceremony of the proposed  basement and 7 storied new Secretariat Building, Sector-9 being held on Wednesday by V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab & Administrator, Chandigarh.

The building willhouse the offices of the Administrator, Advisor to the Administrator, Finance Secretary, Home Secretary and all other departments of Chandigarh Administration under one location.

The construction work of 2,140,00 sqft building has been awarded with a cost of Rs 49.7 crore. It has been designed as a green and an energy efficient building which is one of its kind in Chandigarh.

The state-of-art building aims to have advanced technological features and will be controlled and monitored centrally. The Project has been designed to achieve “5 Star green rating under GRIHA certification.” The specifications include insulated walls and roof, high performance glass, energy efficient lighting and air conditioning, sewage water treatment with reuse of treated water, top soil preservation, organic waste composting. The entire roof will have solar panels. The Completion period of the project is 18 Months.

AK Gupta, Principle Secretary Home, Ak Sinha, Finance Secretary, KK Yadav, Commissioner Municipal Corporation, and other officers of Chandigarh Administration were also present.
