NH 74 scam accused appear in court, next date on October 9

Eighteen accused in the national highway 74 scam including six suspended Provincial Civil Service officials, appeared in the court of district and sessions judge, special judge (Prevention of Corruption Act) Narendra Datt on Monday.

The charge sheet was to be heard on the day but the defence sought time. Agreeing to this request, the court set the next date of hearing in the case on October 9.

The main accused in the NH-74 land compensation scam, suspended PCS officer DP Singh along with other suspended PCS officers Bhagat Singh Fonia, NS Naganyal, Anil Shukla, Amar Singh and Ganesh Prasad appeared in the court on Monday.

The other accused in the case including former Tehsildar, registrar Kanungo and farmers also appeared in the court. It is pertinent to mention here that for their alleged role in the Rs 300 crore NH 74 scam, the State Government had recently suspended two Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers Pankaj Kumar Pandey and Chandresh Kumar Yadav.
