A three-member team of the elite National Security Guards (NSG) arrived here on Sunday to conduct a review of the security arrangements at the Jagannath Temple, which is on the radar of terror outfits.
The team would carry out the review for two days. It would conduct a thorough security inspection of both internal and external parts of the temple, sources said.
An official announcement regarding the security inspection of the temple by the NSG was made by the district administration.
Earlier, an NSG team had inspected the Shreemandir’s security arrangements in August 2017 and suggested for some changes.
This time, the team would also inspect whether the security reforms they had suggested last time have been implemented or not, sources said.
Notably, the NSG team had suggested for construction of watchtowers around the temple and shifting of all shops around it. But nothing has been done in these respects.
The NSG usually conducts reconnaissance after sensitive places are identified in coordination with the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, the State police and intelligence agencies.
