Hundreds of Congress leaders of Gajapati district, block and Paralakhemundi town units organised a felicitation meeting here on Wednesday.
Paralakhemundi Congress MlA K Surya Rao presided over the meeting and felicitated former district president Gajapati Rao, veteran leader Jaimohan Rao, former ZP President Ramchandra, PCC secretary Meenakshi Sahu and several other party leaders.
The felicitation meeting was organised with a theme “Together we fight, together we build.” Surya Rao declared that he would not contest in the 2019 elections due to his health issues. He said Hi Tech Medical College chairman Tirupati Panigrahi would contest from the Paralakhemundi constituency on Congress ticket. Rao said he would continue to support and work for the Congress in Gajapati district to see to it that the party wins the district’s both Paralakhemundi and Mohana constituencies.
