PM to lay stone for Rs 4,361 cr NH projects

Apart from dedicating the IIT BBS Campus and a 100-bed ESI Hospital to the nation here, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Odisha on Monday, would lay foundation-stone for 263-km long National Highway projects to streamline traffic and check mishaps in the State. The NH projects would have a total cost of Rs  4,361 crore.

The projects to be inaugurated by the PM include six laning of Chandikhole-Bhadrk section of NH-16, flyover on NH-!6 at Khandagiri in Bhubaneswar, four-laning of Cuttack-Angul secion of NH-42 and 6/4 laning of Tangi-Puintola section of NH-16, informed NH Odisha region officers at a Press meet here.

The existing four laned Chandikhole-Bhadrak Section of NH- 16 of length of 74.5 km to be upgraded to six lane standard with cost of Rs  1491.80 crores, which has been awarded to the  DBL Chandikhole-Bhadrak Highways Pvt Ltd. The project is scheduled to be completed by June 2021. There is proposal for construction of 14 major bridges, 15 minor bridges, 13 Vehicular Underpass and 90 km service road in this project. On completion, there will be better connectivity to mining and industrial belts to the nearest ports at eastern part of the State.

As Khandagiri junction on NH-16 has been identified as a black spot, flyover will be constructed to check the accident. The cost of the flyover is Rs 115.63 crore and the work has been awarded to the RKD Constructions Pvt Ltd on EPC mode. The project is targeted to be completed by November 2019.

Similarly, the Cuttack -Angul section of the NH-42 for a length of 112 km will be made four-laning and the work has been awarded in two packages to the Gayatri Projects Limited with a cost of Rs  1,990.73 crore. The project is targeted to be completed by September 2020. There is proposal for construction of thre major bridges, 23 minor bridges, five flyovers, seven vehicular underpass, two bypass and  one ROB in the project. .

Besides the Tangi - Puintola Section of the NH-16 for a length of 75 km will be made four laning with project cost of Rs  761.79 crore. The project has been awarded to the Punj Lloyd on EPC mode which is targeted to be completed by June 2021. There is proposal for construction of 13 vehicular underpass, 49 km service road in the project.

Besides, the Prime Minister would dedicate a 100-bed upgraded ESI Hospital here to the nation during his visit. A tota of Rs  73.51 crore has been spent for the project.

Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal, CM Naveen Patnaik, Union Transport and National Highway, Shipping and Water Resources, River Renovation and Ganga Rejuvenation  Minister Nitin Jayaram Gadkari, Union Human Resources Development Minister Prakash Javadekar, Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram, Union Petroleum and Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Labour and Employment Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Union Culture and Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Dr Mahesh Sharma and Union Communication Minister Manoj Sinha will attend the meeting.
