Police action on Statehood Day shocking: JMM

Condemning the police lathi charge on para teachers and the media persons at Morhabadi ground, the JMM on Friday claimed that police action on the occasion of State’s Foundation Day and the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, has shocked the people of the State.

JMM general secretary Binod Pandey alleged that State government had taken several steps to prevent the pre-planned protest of para-teachers adding the protestors were even threatened of being terminated from service if they implement their plan.

“When the teachers did stage the protest at the venue of Statehood Day function they were beaten up in front of Governor and the CM. Moreover about a dozen of media persons were also hit with lathi by the police,” he said.

Pandey said according to report hundreds of para teacher are injured and are admitted in RIMS. He alleged that arrested para teachers were kept in the camp jail without drinking water and meals and were treated as anti-nationals.

The JMM general secretary pointed out that CM has not come up with a statement on the issue as yet. He added this was a suppressive government which has adopted several measures to inflict atrocities on the people who raise voice in support of their demands.
