Police capable of making State extremist free: CM

Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Wednesday asserted that extremists’ influence has reduced considerably in Jharkhand adding that at present only 20 per cent of the State was affected by this menace.

The CM was speaking at Police Decoration and March Past function held at JAP-1 ground in Doranda. Over 100 police officers and personnel were awarded with President Police medals and other awards on the occasion.

Das said Jharkhand Police was capable to make the state extremist-free, adding that it could be achieved with public cooperation. He said police was working hard, operating in remote and mountainous area, against extremists and he salutes the security forces for the efforts.

He said the criminals who are extracting levy in the name of naxalism would get befitting reply.

The CM stated in the past four years his government has tried to make the state extremist-free adding that following the decline in extremism the government has been able to provide basic facilities in the remote areas. He pointed out that entire country is admitting that Jharkhand is growing at a very fast space at present.

The CM stated that cyber-crime has also emerged as a big challenge for state police adding that the security forces should become tech-savvy and knowledge-based to tackle the problem.

“Police from across the state are visiting a few districts of the state searching for criminals related to cyber-crime. With a view to remove this blot on the state the government has decided to open cyber-crime police stations in every district of the state,” he said.

The CM asked police department to make more use of digital technology in order to tackle the criminals who are adapting new methods to commit crime.

Das promised that state government would provide all basic necessities to the police force to enable them to operate with dedication. He stated that government would soon announce payment of 13 month salary in a year to policemen who are serving the state during festivals and holidays.

The CM praised the women whose husband and children were martyred while serving the state and the country. He said government would support the martyr’s family adding those not having a house would be provided PM Awas.

Speaking on the occasion home secretary SKG Rahate said state government has taken several initiatives for the modernization of Jharkhand Police including online FIR system, CCTNS and Operation Muskan.  He said 15000 and new appointments were made in past two years to strengthen the police force

Welcoming the guests DGP DK Pandey said that 349 Police officers and jawans have been martyred fighting the extremists in the state so far. Chief Secretary Sudhir Tripathi, DGPs BB Pradhan, Neeraj Sinha and PRK Naidu were present on the occasion.

 Meanwhile, Shailendra Kumar Sinha, the Special Superintendent of Police, appointed on the post of security for the Chief Minister, was awarded the President's commendable service medal.

This medal was given to him by CM Raghubar Das, on the occasion of the 18th Jharkhand Foundation Day parade and Aalankaran Ceremony held in JAP-1, Ground Doranda 2018. It is to be noted that Sinha is an IPS officer of 2006 batch and a resident of Bokaro district. In 2013, he was also honoured with the Chief Minister's Commendable Service Medal.
