The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ruled Delhi Government will have a tagline "Dilli Sarkar Aapki Sarkar' on the lines of Bharatiya Janata Party's tagline 'Ab ki Baar Modi Sarkar'. Sensing an opportunity to win seven Lok Sabha seats of Delhi, the AAP Government has decided to give impetus to its campaign ahead of the high decibel 2019 General Elections.
In a recently held meeting by the Public Works Department (PWD) for repair of road across the city, the PWD Minister Sateyender Jain directed the department to install hoarding displaying the message 'Dilli Sarkar Aapki Sarkar'. "The Minister has also directed that hoardings displaying message 'Dilli Sarkar Aapki Sarkar' and PWD at work banners should also be fixed at various locations to highlight the time bound action being taken the Public Works Department," said a Senior PWD official.
The officials further said that the minister has further directed the department to submit the photographs of work before and after the repair should be documented and submitted to ensure the completion of work as well as evidence. "The department is currently working on to identifying the locations and other modalities to install the hoarding boards," added the official.
However, the Opposition party leaders claimed that it was nothing more than publicity ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
"It is clearly visible that the AAP is using public money for its own publicity, election strategy and campaigning. The party has been ruling the city for the past three years why they felt such hoardings need to be installed across the city now. The move is part of election strategy as you can notice that the board carries the name of AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan. In spite of using public fund for its own publicity, the government should work for the welfare of people," said Chattar Singh, senior Congress leader.
Reacting to AAP Government's push to have hoardings all over the city, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijendra Gupta said the party has adopted such strategy to promote itself ahead of upcoming Lok Sabha election. "Instead of spending money to develop the basic amenities for Delhiites, the Government is busy in getting publicity, the LOP said.
