Racket of Malana Cream busted, charas worth `1cr seized, two arrested

With the arrest of two persons, the Delhi Police on Wednesday busted an inter-State racket involved in supply of Malana Cream and charas in Delhi and its peripheral areas. The police have also recovered 1.1 kg of charas (Green Ice/Hashish) worth Rs 1 crore in international market from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Sobhe Ram (25) and Sanu Thakur (21) both residents of Kullu in Himachal Pradesh. The accused used to procure drugs from Kasol and supply them in Delhi-NCR and Rajasthan.

According to Rajiv Ranjan, Additional Commissioner of Police, crime branch, specific inputs were received on December 9 regarding Sobhe Ram and Sanu would be coming to supply Charas in huge quantity near Chandgi Ram Akhara, outer ring road in Delhi following which a police team raid a trap and the duo was apprehended.

“During sustained interrogation, the accused disclosed that earlier they were selling charas to the tourists who were visiting Malana and Kasol in Himachal Pardesh, and then gradually, they came in contact of Tony of Rajasthan and Janu of Gurugram (HR) who lured them to supply charas at Rajasthan and Gurugram. They agreed to pay the transportation cost and other expenses. Sanu purchased an i20 car for this purpose,” said the Additional CP.

“They learned secret ways to transport Charas from Himachal Pradesh to other parts of India as per demand. The recovered charas was concealed under the speedometer in the dashboard of the car,” the Additional CP added.

Malana cream Charas is quite popular among foreigners, youngsters and professionals for getting a high. Charas affects the limbic system of the brain and forces neurotransmitters to stimulate pleasure.
