Lake city Nainital and nearby areas experienced rain on Thursday while the higher reaches received light snowfall. The change in weather has increased the winter chill in this region.
During the rain, the roads in the town bore a deserted look. In the afternoon when the rain stopped, the tourists began coming out of hotels though most remained indoors.
The sky remained cloudy throughout the day and cleared during the evening.
According to the local in charge of the meteorological centre, Pratap Singh Bisht, the maximum and minimum temperature here was recorded at 10 degrees Celsius and 3.5 degrees Celsius respectively. Meanwhile, the rain has come as a relief for the farmers in the region.
