Raipur police bust baby selling racket

Raipur Police on Wednesday busted a baby-selling racket and claimed that accused were acting as social workers and had been allegedly operating their racket though social media platforms.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Raipur, Ambresh Mishra while briefing media persons on Wednesday informed that the kingpin of the racket was Anuchit Vadekar while another female Doctor Shanu Mahih assisted him in the entire racket.

Besides these two persons, two other associates have also been arrested for their alleged involvement into racket and a case under section 370 and 28 (J) has been lodged with the Tikarapara Police Station, Mishra informed.

Acting on a tip off that a new born baby was sold, Tikarapara Police immediately swung into action and raided a clinic at Tikarapara in Raipur at the heart of city with the help of Crime Branch and arrested a woman with the new born.

The baby was delivered by a rape victim teenager, police claimed. Police further said that one of the accused had admitted of selling three new born babes recently. Sources say that police are likely to make more arrests soon based on leads provided by arrested accused.
