SThe Raipur Smart City Ltd (RSCL) has commenced the process for underground cabling work for city’s street power supply network.
Raipur’s skyline will be free of any overhead high tension power lines , officials informed.
In the first phase, nine prominent thoroughfares of the city would be covered where in the expansion works of 20 kilometers long and 2 feet deep ground power cable lines would be carried out.
The nine prominent thoroughfares includes under IPDS and ABD plan are Telghani Naka to Rathore Chowk, Gurunanak Chowk to Jai Stambh Chowk via Sharda Chowk, Jai Stambh Chowk to City Kotwali Chowk via Malviya Road, Kotwali Chowk (Sadar Bazar route) to Tatyapara Chowk via Satti Bazar, Tatyapara Chowk to Rathore Chowk via Ramsagarpara area besides MG Road and KK Road.
The project work will cost Rs 15 crore which basically covers 40 percent of ABD plan of Smart Cities Mission.
The IPDS project will end all dangers posed by overhead power lines. For underground power cable works, HD pipelines will be used so that the plying of vehicles would not be affected by the underground power cables.
