Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, along with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, will launch Ayushman Bharat scheme in Lucknow on Sunday.
Sources in the BJP said that Singh would reach Lucknow from New Delhi on Sunday morning and go straight to Indira Gandhi Pratishtan to inaugurate Ayushman Bharat scheme in Uttar Pradesh. The scheme will provide cashless health insurance of Rs 5 lakh per year to a poor family.
It will cover old diseases and also include pre- and post-admission, surgery expenses, tests and medical examinations during admission in the hospital. Besides, it will also cover transport expenses of patients. Around 10.74 crore families in the country, including around 1.18 crore from UP, will be benefited by this. The Centre would spend around Rs 12,000 crore on the scheme.
Meanwhile, during his two-day stay in Lucknow, the Union Home Minister will attend an Assembly sector coordinators meeting and a BJP workers meeting in Alamnagar on Sunday.
On Monday, Singh will attend a function at a private educational institute and, thereafter, attend an inter-state council meeting at Yojna Bhawan. In the evening, he will inspect works of Gomti Nagar railway station and thereafter attend a function to felicitate newly-appointed Governor of Bihar Lalji Tandon.
