The Kumaon commissioner Rajiv Rautela assumed additional charge as the GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT) Vice-chancellor here on Wednesday. The term of AK Mishra as the university’s vice-chancellor ended on September 25.
Addressing the media after assuming his additional charge, Rautela said that GBPUAT is known for its excellence.
The research and techniques developed at the university will be taken to remote areas to enhance agriculture and mitigate migration, he said.
Rautela, further, said that he will accord top priority to strengthen the role of the university in doubling the income of farmers in the State.
A plan of action will be drafted in coordination with the agriculture and horticulture departments for this purpose, he said.
The condition of the university hostels will be improved and security will be strengthened.
Relevant details had been sought from the university officials on these aspects, said Rautela.
