Putting all the speculations to rest, the sitting legislator from Kota assembly segment Renu Jogi filed her application form for the Congress ticket at the Block Congress Office, Pendra of the assembly area on Sunday.
Now ball lies in the court of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) whether to entertain her application for party candidate or not as for long she has been cornered in the party after her husband and former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi had floated a separate outfit. She was also removed from the key post of Deputy leader of Opposition. Her son and former Congress leader Amit Jogi had been expelled from the party for anti-party activities.
Talking to media persons in Pendra, Renu said there were no differences between her and other senior leaders of Congress. There might be some communication gap, she said. “I am a sitting MlA from the segment and thus have claimed my candidature. This is my native place and thus I have applied for the Congress ticket from here”, she said. Answering to a query, she said that intimation was given to her husband that she is presently at Pendra and going to file the application for the Congress ticket.
Meanwhile, her husband and former Chief Minister and Janata Congress Chhattisgarh Supremo Ajit Jogi in a statement said, “I had tried all my level best but could not be able to convince her to join JCC (J). She has her loyalty and affinity towards United Progressive Alliance Chairman Sonia Gandhi since long. So long she has been resisting quitting the party.”
To a question the JCC (J) Supremo said, a strong party candidate would be put against Renu, if she gets Congress ticket from Kota. To clarify on the allegations that he has made his party a family show as all the four members are active in the politics, Jogi further declared that only two members from his family will contest the poll.
Thus, if Renu gets Congress ticket he himself and Renu from two different parties would contest the polls. If such thing does not happen then either Amit Jogi or Renu Jogi would contest the assembly polls from JCC (J), Jogi indicated. Notable, he himself had declared his candidature from the Rajnandgaon assembly segment against Chief Minister Raman Singh.
