Monday, 22 October 2018 | Staff Reporter | Raipur

The resentment among the local party workers has started to brew seeking to change the party candidates announced.

At present, the major issue is of Patan and dropping of women and child development minister Ramshila Sahu on Sunday. The party workers arrived at capital city and started sloganeering demanding to change the candidates at Ekatma Parisar, Divisional BJP headquarters. They raised demand for local candidates and in case the candidates are not changed, then would resign in mass. On hearing her name being dropped, Ramshila Sahu emotionally charged spoke to media and said that what has happened was not expected. She said she was sent to Mungeli as observer but it is well known that Jageshwar Sahu’s name was not in the panel of candidate from Durg Rural. Sahu said she would talk to Chief Minister and place her side of story.

She said that party and organisation is foremost and whatever order is being given, would abide by it. Earlier, she had been MLA of Gunderdehi and BJP has not announced the candidate for it and hopes that she may be likely to shift.

Zila Panchayat chairman Mukesh Belchandan present in the BJP office with party workers said that in Durg Rural, an outsider, a non-resident has been thrust upon them as candidate. They are not going to tolerate it. They will stand united, if they are provided a local candidate. If not then party would have to face mass resignation from primary membership.

Belchandan said party should reconsider the decision on candidate and change. Meanwhile, Patan where Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee President Bhupesh Baghel is likely to be in election fray, BJP has declared Motilal Sahu, a prominent Sahu community leader as BJP candidate.

The sloganeering party workers said that Motilal Sahu was tipped to be given ticket from Raipur Rural seat as he is resident of said area. But later his name appeared in Patan. This is the reason for protest. They also pointed of mass resignation from party if the candidate is not changed.

Patan has been witnessing traditional fight between Bhupesh Baghel and Vijay Baghel both from OBC community and also relatives. This time also BJP played on same card of OBC as Motilal Sahu to give tough fight for Bhupesh.

With demonstration and sloganeering increasing for long period, police was called for security. Vijay Baghel’s supporters staged demonstration before the party office gate.
