Reserve EVMs might have been ‘interchanged’: Baghel

Thursday, 06 December 2018 | Staff Reporter | Raipur

Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) President Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday said that there was every possibility of some officials interchanging reserve Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) with the machines which were used for polls.

Addressing a press conference here at Rajiv Bhawan, Baghel said there was a difference of around 47,000 votes between official figures and the figures we  received from our polling agents, he said.

Baghel also protested use of laptop by an officer near strong room in Bemetara, malfunctioning of CCTVs in Bhilai and entry of a Tehsildar in strong room in Dhamtari.

Such an act of responsible officials are objectionable and creates suspicion of tampering of EVMs, he said.
