RIMS, Sadar Hospital start treating patients under Ayushman Bharat

After the roll-out of the world’s largest universal health insurance scheme – Ayushman Bharat on Sunday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, premier hospital and medical college RIMS including Ranchi Sadar Hospital started treating the patients under it ensuring all facilities to the registered patients.

As many as 20 patients were admitted and operated at RIMS on the inaugural day of Ayushman Bharat scheme. “By far 19 golden cards had been issued to the patients at RIMS. Over 20 patients after being diagnosed were operated.

Patients have been undergoing treatment in Cardiology, Neurology, Ears Nose and Throat (ENT), Urology, neonatal and other wings,” said RIMS Director Dr RK Srivastava.

Meanwhile Principal Secretary of Department of Health Nidhi Khare visited RIMS and interacted with the doctors and patients, undergoing treatment under this scheme.

Further, Ranchi Civil Surgeon, Dr. Vinod Bihari Prasad stated that as many as five golden cards were issued to those falling under the criteria of universal health coverage scheme. Interesting, as per the reports of Department of Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education, a baby girl was delivered under Ayushman Bharat scheme at Sadar Hospital at East Singhbhum.

Poonam Mahto delivered a girl child under the observation of Dr Veena Singh through Caesarian (C-section) method. Mahato who availed the scheme recently would have never imagined that Rs. 18,500 will be waived off easily after availing the scheme.

Besides, the Prime Minister after the launch of this mega health insurance scheme also inaugurated ten Health and Wellness Centers in Jharkhand, of which, six are located in the State Capital while rest are in Jamshedpur and Bokaro.

The Ranchi Civil Surgeon said that these specialised centers decked up with all hi-tech facilities has been opened at Pithoria, Sukurhutu, Nawatoli, Husir and two other places.

The Civil Surgeon further stated that leaving out Pithoria which is a Primary Health Care Centre (PHC) rest all the five health care centers are basically the Sub-centers where community health workers have been deputed after the rigorous six months training through a bridge course.

“Doctors have been deputed at Pithoria Health and Wellness Center while the community health workers of the respective centre have been instructed to make the lists of people residing there. The compilation of data is going on, starting with blood pressure and diabetic tests. Persons will serious ailment will be referred to Kanke from Pithoria Health and Wellness Centre,” Prasad added.

Also, the Civil Surgeon said that soon all the Centers of Ranchi will be linked with telemedicine service. “The service will be provided for at least two hours on a daily basis. Soon the timing of the telemedicine service will be disclosed after discussing it with the HoDs,” he said.

Apart from Ranchi, Health and Wellness centers was also inaugurated online at Bokaro and Jamshedpur.

Two Health and Wellness Centre at Radhanagar and Barmasia in Bokaro district were launched simultaneously. About 13.50 lakh people from three lakh families across the district have now became entitled to get the benefits under the scheme. 

“Presently, 12 government hospitals and five private hospitals were inducted under the scheme amid we have got 26 applications from the private hospitals and nursing homes for registration under Ayushman Bharat. The process of registration is still on. We have identified 94 more private hospitals,” said Bokaro Civil Surgeon S Murmu. Over 67 beneficiaries got the Gold Card soon after the inauguration of the Wellness Centers by MK Barnawal Deputy Commissioner Bokaro and others.

The East Singhbhum got two Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centre, one at Lupungdih, located 15 Km near Jamshedpur and another in the Kesharpur in Ghatshila sub division.

Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar; Deputy Development Commissioner B Maheshwari and other Government officials attended the programme at Lupungdih. Kumar inaugurated the centre that will have facilities like labour room, a pharmacy, a double bed ward, OPD, a recovery ward and a post delivery unit.

Villagers expressed their happiness over the launch of wellness centres. In East Singhbhum, Medica, Steel City

Nursing Home in Bistupur and Gurunanak Nursing Home in Mango are some of the empanelled hospitals. Tata Main Hospital, Tata Motors Hospital and some other corporate hospitals are yet to come under the ambit.

“It is our ambitious project and we are confident that it be beneficial for the underprivileged people. The district administration has approached all hospitals for empanelment but they have their own set of rules to follow. But we believe very soon they will be empanelled,” said East Singhbhum Civil Surgeon, Maheshwar Prasad.
