Lambasting the Bharatiya Janata Party government in Uttar Pradesh for failing to prevent spread of dengue, Rashtriya Lok Dal spokesman Anil Dubey said that the death toll due to this disease was rising with each passing day.
Dubey said with the number of dengue patients reaching 157 in Lucknow alone, one could well imagine the situation in the districts of the state.
The RLD leader said that the state government was not taking any preventive measures to check the spread of dengue, which had struck several persons as on date.
"Instead, the BJP government is busy playing the religious card and spreading communal hatred to reap political harvest in the 2019 Lok Sabha election," he charged.
Dubey said that the data released by the Health department showed the outbreak of dengue. "The data revealed that 11 new patients were detected in the last three days. Due to floods, the apprehension of spread of dengue and malaria was expected. But the government did nothing to prevent the spread of vector-borne diseases. Neither it ordered fogging in districts nor did it get the dengue and malaria larva checked as a preventive exercise," he pointed.
The RLD leader asked the state government to take effective measures against dengue.
Meanwhile, RLD state president Masood Ahmad addressed a meeting of party office-bearers in Agra on Wednesday.
Ahmad said the RLD would reach out to the people and highlight the misrule of BJP governments at the Centre and in UP.
He asked party leaders and workers to make people aware of the policies of the RLD and fight for their issues.
