RLD state president expresses grief over Amritsar tragedy

 Rashtriya Lok Dal state president Masood Ahmad expressed grief over the death of people in Amritsar on Vijayadashami and held the district administration and Railways responsible for the losses to lives.

Ahmad asked the Central government to increase the compensation to Rs 10 lakh each from Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased. He said the Punjab government should also announce a similar compensation.

The RLD state chief said that the government should announce immediate compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the injured persons.    

Meanwhile, the RLD state chief, party spokesman Anil Dubey and other leaders paid tributes to former Chief Minister of UP and Uttarakhand, Narain Dutt Tiwari at a condolence meeting held in Vidhan Bhawan on Saturday.

Dubey said that Tiwari’s death had created a vacuum. He said the three-time Chief Minister of UP would be remembered as a ‘Vikas Purush’.

Ahmad said Tiwari was a leader of great stature and was respected by leaders of all parties.
