RSB Chandigarh wins football championship

Exhibiting an impressive performance in the entire All India Civil Services Football Championship 2018, RSB Chandigarh became the football champion.

The All India Civil Services Football Championship 2018 concluded on Saturday that was played simultaneously at Motilal Stadium and TT Nagar Stadium. The championship began on December 17. In the competition, RSB Chandigarh won the winner’s trophy while Haryana's team was the runner-up.

In the championship, Delhi secured third place by defeating Bangalore by 2-0 goals. Director of Sports of Youth Welfare Department SL Thoussen congratulated the winners, runners-up teams and players. Thoussen felicitated the winners with the award. On this occasion, Joint Director Vinod Pradhan and B.S. Yadav were also present.

Under the competition today, Chandigarh defeated Haryana by 4-1 goals in the final match between RSB Chandigarh and Haryana and won the title of the winner. Chandigarh's Amandeep made a goal in 33rd minute, Rakinder Jit Singh made goals in 60th and 62nd and Shivam Dhol scored one goal each in the 64th minute. While Haryana scored only one goal in the 36th  minute by player Pawan.

In the concluding programme organized in the audio-visual hall located at the city stadium, the sports director and youth welfare S.L. Thoussen said that keeping in mind the huge potential in sports, necessary action is being taken by the Sports department. He praised the world-class sports facilities being made available to the players through departmental academies and departmental achievements. Sports Director Thoussen gave away the trophies and medals to all the winners and gave them best wishes.
