The officials of Ranchi University (RU) during a Syndicate Meet organised at the RU Administrative Block on Tuesday approved the proposal to constitute a ‘Corpus Fund’ for Medi Claim policy both for teaching and non-teaching employees of the university.
As per RU Officer (PR), Dr. Prakash Kumar Jha, the step is for the wellbeing of all teaching and non-teaching staffs. “Earlier there was no medical insurance policy for the university personnel. From the welfare fund, created way back, some amount was given to the employees in case of any emergency. Once the constitution of the Corpus Fund is ensured, the employees will contribute some amount to it and its interest will be used for medical claims,” Jha added.
Also, through Corpus Fund’s interest sum, Post-Graduate (PG) toppers will be given teaching assistance. “Earlier, the teaching assistance was Rs. 4,000 for each PG topper. Now, the proposal has been put to revise the teaching assistance amount through Corpus Fund’s interest to Rs. 15,000 as well. Rs. 4,000 is being given to the topper students since 2008,” Jha further added.
As many as 19 agendas were considered during the meeting ranging from recruitment of teachers to promotion including seventh pay commission. Also, for the financial year 2019-20, the budget of Rs. 859.05 crore was placed before the finance commission of the university.
