Friday, 21 September 2018 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

Educationist and social activist Dr Achyuta Samanta was honoured with the MGR Ratna Award for Lifetime Contribution to Education for Tribal Children by the Government of Sri Lanka on Wednesday.

Sri Lanka Parliament Speaker Karu Jaisurya presented the award in the presence of Sri Lanka Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam.

As Dr Samanta is unwell, he was not physically present to receive the award.

A well-wisher from KIIT and KISS, Dr K Abdul Ghani, received the award on his behalf.

Earlier too, Prof Samanta has been decorated with three civilian awards and over 200 international awards for his relentless contribution to eliminate poverty and hunger through education in particular and social service in general.
