Sanand death row continues

Tuesday, 16 October 2018 | PNS | Haridwar

Four days after the scientist-turned ascetic Swami Gyan Swaroop Sanand breathed his last while on a fast for Ganga,  those associated with Matri Sadan where Sanand conducted his fast for 110 days, are all set to file a case against  the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and seven other people, including AIIMS Rishikesh director. Notably, Sanand had died at AIIMS Rishikesh on October11 following cardiac arrest a day after he had been forcefully shifted from his fasting site in Matri Sadan by the district administration and police. He had been shifted some hours after he had given up water, resolved to ‘sacrifice’ for Ganga.

The Matri Sadan founder Swami Shivanand said that the statement issued by the director of AIIMS Dr Ravikant on the death day of Swami Sanand itself was a testimony to the death being a planned murder by the hospital authorities. “The letter, claimed to have been written Swami Sanand before his death, must be probed into by a SIT team comprising some honest police officers.

Besides, it must be ensured that the SIT would work under the supervision of the High Court,” he said and added that if AIIMS would register a defamation case against Matri Sadan they would welcome it.

Buttressing his point with evidences, the Matri Sadan founder said, “Just six and half hours before Swami Sanand died on October 11, he is supposed to have given his consent in writing for being administered intra venous fluid injection and potassium intake.

It is learnt that 500 ml fluid and potassium was administered to him thereafter. How is it that he died a few hours after he was administered the injection? It was not that his health worsened suddenly.

The doctors treating him said that his health turned critical much before he was administered the fluid injection.

Things were such that they were preparing to send him to AIIMS Delhi. Our question is–why did they admit him at AIIMS Rishikesh when they should have sent him to Delhi, given his critical state of health?”

Brahmchari Dayanand of Matri Sadan said that the statement made by AIIMS Rishikesh director, alluding to Matri Sadan ascetics pressuring Sanand to continue fast has shocked all the Ganga lovers. "We would reach Rishikesh soon to file a case against eight people," he affirmed. It is learnt that the ashram would register case against the  Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, AIIMS director professor Ravikant, District Magistrate Haridwar Deepak Rawat, SDM Haridwar Manish Kumar, CO Kankhal, police station in-charge Jagjeetpur and the doctor who treated Sanand at AIIMS.

Meanwhile, the AIIMS Rishikesh is also planning to lodge defamation case against Matri Sadan. Speaking to The Pioneer on Monday, PRO AIIMS Rishikesh Harish Thapliyal said, "We are consulting lawyers about filing a defamation suit.

Our director did not name Matri sadan while making a statement. However, they are openly defaming us, taking name. We would not tolerate this."
