Security beefed up around picnic spots

As the New Year is round the corner, the Ranchi Police has strengthened its security arrangements at various picnic spots to ensure hassle free revelry in the New year and curb untoward incidents.

Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) Ranchi, Ashutosh Shekhar, on Saturday, said, “I have visited Dasham Fall which is most famous picnic spot of this area a large numbers of people gather here for picnic. On the basis of some earlier instances near the fall some people drowned in the falls while taking selfie as it was clearly mentioned at various place that selfie is prohibited but people ignore it. With a view to stop it the local committee at the fall installed barricading at dangerous places and the department has instructed to local police satiations to keep vigil on the dangerous places.”

Shekhar further said, “The local police stations have been asked to monitor the crowd and keep a watch on suspected characters The security would be further beefed up on January 1, the over 10,000 people visited five waterfalls in the rural places of the district. All the concerned police stations have asked to continue patrolling near the spots.”

The department has also sought support of local villagers to provide safety at pinic spots

The SP said, “With the aim to prevent molestation and to provide safety for females and girls because a large numbers of women and girls visit these places during the picnic season the district police assured that it will deploy women police force at all the spots as there are numerous cases of molestation, eve teasing occurs at various spots. After the completion of ongoing village panchayat bypolls a numbers of women police force will be deployed at various picnic spots to prevent such kind of cases.”
