The Yogi Adityanath government is likely to extend yet another sop to Samajwadi Party rebel leader and Samajwadi Secular Morcha founder Shivpal Singh Yadav by upgrading his security to Z plus category.
Earlier on Friday, the Chief Minister had allotted a sprawling bungalow on Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg, earlier occupied by the Bahujan Samaj Party, to Shivpal.
Sources said that an alleged security threat to Shivpal could be the reason for the higher security.
A recent report of the Intelligence Bureau mentioned possible security threat to Shivpal, who has rebelled against his parent party after an intense power struggle with SP chief and his nephew Akhilesh Yadav over controlling the party.
At present, Z plus security cover has been given only to Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, his father Mulayam Singh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati in Uttar Pradesh.
