Samajwadi Secular Morcha founder Shivpal Singh Yadav unveiled the flag of his outfit on Monday.

The flag has three bands of red, yellow and green along with photographs of Shivpal and Samajwadi Party patron Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Soon after its launch, the cars in Shivpal’s motorcade were seen sporting the new SSM flag on Monday evening.

The SSM also offered a ticket to Mulayam Singh Yadav from his bastion, Mainpuri, for the 2019 Lok Sabha election.

Shivpal, who had a long war of attrition with his nephew and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, said, “We want Netaji (Mulayam) to contest on our party ticket in the coming general election from Mainpuri seat.”

Soon after the launch of SSM, Shivpal had released a list of TV panellists and speakers that included former SP MLA Sharda Pratap Shukla, Shadab Fatima, Nawab Ali Akbar, Deepak Mishra, Sudhir Singh, Professor Dileep Yadav, Abhishek Singh Ashu, Mohammad Farhat Raees Khan and Arvind Yadav. Most of them were either sidelined or shunted out by the SP in the past.

Shivpal. the MLA from Jaswant Nagar, also claimed that many SP leaders were in touch with him and would join the SSM soon.

“We will also get the party registered with the Election Commission of India,” he said.

Meanwhile, on Monday, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav said in Lucknow that he was confident of stitching a grand opposition alliance to challenge the Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2019 general election.

“Everyone is fed up of the BJP and they want it out of power. I want to assure you that an alliance will happen in UP. Let the time come… We are confident of forming an alliance for the 2019 elections. The opposition wants the BJP to be defeated in the next polls,” the SP chief said.

His statement came a day after Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati said that her party was ready for an alliance only if it was given a ‘respectable’ number of seats.
