Shukla enters ‘Ektama Parisar’ in protest

Senior Congress leader and former Member of Parliament Karuna Shukla, who is also niece of Late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee created uproar on Tuesday while claiming that the BJP is doing disrespect to urn which contained ashes of the former Prime Minister while still keeping it at the BJP’s ‘Ektama Parisar’ office in Raipur.

She blamed that the ashes were not yet immersed as per rituals and was kept in the office.

Later, the police reached the spot and Karuna Shukla and other leaders of Congress party who had entered  Ekatma Parisar were arrested.

Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee President Bhupesh Baghel was also present near Ekatma Parisar and kept an eye on movements of party colleagues but didn’t enter the BJP's office premises.

The matter got heated when a regional electronic news channel aired a news while showing alleged disrespect of the Urn containing  ashes of former PM kept at the ‘Ektama Parisar’.

Shukla while taking cognizance of the matter charged that her sentiments were hurt with the aleged act of BJP.

She accompanied by other leaders later reached the BJP office and staged a sit-in there.

In between, BJP Co-Organizational General Secretary Saudan Singh and Chhattisgarh In charge of BJP Anil Jain also entered the office.

Raising slogans against BJP, the Congress leaders led by Karuna Shukla created uproar in the BJP office and a minor scuffle was also reported with the BJP workers present there. Later police was called and the Congress leaders were arrested.
