Six-fold increase in Railway investment in J’khand: Goyal

Union Railway and Coal Minister Piyush Goyal said on Saturday that the investment in Railways has increased six times in comparison to previous governments in Jharkhand. By the year 2014 when there were works worth Rs 450 crores, the figure has now reached 2,100 crores, he said.

Holding a meeting with CM Raghubar Das and senior officials of the State and Centre here on Saturday Goyal said that the impact of the increased investment is now evident in the State and the work on undergoing projects has taken pace.

 He said that several projects started during the regime of former PM AB Vajpayee will be completed soon and the people of the State will be immensely benefitted with those.

Goyal, on the occasion, also instructed concerned officials to work fast on completion of houses for the displaced persons at Jharia in Dhanbad.

He congratulated CM Raghubar Das for the works on Sports academy in Jharkhand and said that the kids getting training at the Sports academy are immensely talented. If they are given proper guidance and support they will bring fame not only to Jharkhand but the whole country.

He also discussed in the meeting about capacity development of the kids at the sports academy.

The CM during the meeting urged to start work on alternative route to Dhanbad-Chandrapura Rail line. He pledged all support from the State to the Railways and also requested completion of Ranchi-Koderma rail line at the earliest. The CM said that the people of Jharkhand do not get facilities from railways in comparison to the revenue the State gives to the Railways. The State government is continuously reviewing issues including forest clearance and the Railway Ministry also supports the State much. 

The CM, on the issue of curbing criminal activities and extortion in coal transportation, said that rail lines could be laid in coal mines as much as possible. It will held stopping criminals’ menace and conveyor belts can be used to transport coal to the railway sidings in those mines where rail lines cannot be laid. On this the Raikway Minister gave his nod and instructed the officials for quick action.        

State Chief Secretary Sudhir Tripathi, Principal Secretary to CM Sunil Barnwal, Mines Secretary Vinay Kumar Chaubey, PCCF Sanjay Kumar alongwith senior officials of Railways, Coal Ministry and State government were present on the occasion.
