The people of the provisional state capital continue to reel under the onslaught of dengue with six new cases of the vector- borne disease being reported by the district health authorities on Thursday. With them, the dengue count in Dehradun so far this season has gone up to 188. In Uttarakhand, 579 people so far have been afflicted by dengue this season.
The chief medical officer (CMO) Dehradun, Dr S K Gupta said that the district has adequate stocks of medicines and the ELISA kits. The health department has set up isolation wards for the patients of the disease. He further said that all the medical practitioners have been directed to report the suspected cases of the disease to the district health department so that the ELISA test- the confirmatory test for the disease- is conducted.
The CMO added that there is no need to panic with the new cases pouring in daily but advised the people to ensure that breeding grounds inside and in the vicinity of their houses are destroyed. He said that people should wear full- sleeved clothes during the day time to reduce exposure for the mosquito bite.
