Members of ‘Hazaribagh -The Finest City’, a social group, on Sunday launched a unique drive at picturesque Hazaribagh lake taking out banners and hoardings hooked on tress. Mritunjay Sharma, a forest department employee and active member of the group said around 150-members joined this drive and freed around 100-trees from banners and hoardings. He said it was very disheartening to see people putting all kinds of advertisements right from beauty products to sex related on trees at a tourist spots.

Sharma said that at bigger cities, nature lovers take up such activities on time-to-time. He said at Hazaribagh lake, there were large number of advertisements boards all around the trees. He said so they called group members as well as members of ‘Ek Choti Pahal’ and ‘Jheel Safai Samiti’ with all agreeing to do this noble work.

According to Sharma, it took around four hours to take out boards and other advertisement materials from the trees fixed by hammering large number of nails into the trunk. He said they had taken out nails in huge quantity from the trunk of maximum of the trees.

He said with passing times, these nails do big damage to trees and so people should avoid putting boards and other advertisement materials on trees in this way. He said after removing, all such items, beauty of the area has increased.

Secretary of the group, Ranjeet Soni said planting saplings is not the only solution but to save them is the bigger service. He urged all to save trees and not to do this kind of work.
