A delegation of the Samajwadi Party State unit led by president Rabi Behera on Saturday met the State Women Commission member Snehanjali Mohanty and submitted a memorandum demanding a probe into the police assault on women protestors at Jhinkarsahi in Balarampur village of Dhenkanal and justice to the victims.
The Samajwadi Party opposed the tree cutting in the area for a beer factory without holding Gram Sabha and action against the police personnel who misbehaved with the women.
Utkala Bikasha Juba Parisada president Debiprasad Prusti condemned the police assault and said when the Naveen Patnaik Government is spending crores of rupees in Biju Juba Bahini to take out anti-alcohol campaign, the forcible clearance of the jungle for a beer unit is sheer madness on part of the State Government.
Similarly, sociopolitical leader Suparno Satpathy also in a tweet tagging the Collector of Dhenkanal, SP and also CM condemned incident.
