Dr DK Singh has been appointed as the Director of State premier medical college and hospital, Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS).

Singh is a Professor (Department of Anesthesiology) at Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Banaras Hindu University (BHU). The decision has been taken during the monthly governing body meet held here on Friday.

The meeting was presided by Minister, Department of Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education, Ramchandra Chandravanshi including Principal Secretary, Nitin Madan Kulkarni and other senior officials. Notably, the post of the Director - RIMS was vacant since long time after the transfer of then Director, Dr BL Sherwal.

During the meeting members gave their consent to transfer five decimal land to Bariatu Police Station.

 Issue of land transfer to Home Department for undertaking any project there was pending since past two to three years. Besides, the governing council members also approved the procurement of at least five vehicles considering the convenience of the patients.

As per the officials present during the meet, other major decisions like re-tendering for operation and maintenance (O&M) of fire-extinguishers and maintenance of other electronic devices was approved. Also, any work involving a monetary sum up to Rs 25 lakh can be sanctioned at the level of Director - RIMS from now onwards.

The amount that will be approved by the Director has been increased to four times. Earlier, as per the guidelines, the RIMS Director can approve project only up toRs  Five lakh.

The officials of governing body instructed the management of the hospital to make mandatory rectification required for different purposes at the earliest before floating the tenders and inviting the bidders.

According to the RIMS administration, tenders were floated to purchase required machines for the Department of oncology, geriatric and Regional Centre for Ophthalmology a few months back.
